They warned me that we're next

I just got back from 2 weeks in Europe meeting with activists from some of the world's most oppressive regimes, who are fighting for freedom.

What I heard there shook me.

When you talk to people who have lived under dictatorship, you start to notice uncomfortable parallels to what's happening in the West right now. The surveillance creep. The ID mandates. The slow erosion of the right to communicate, transact, and move through the world privately.

These are red flags that those under tyranny wish someone had pointed out to them sooner.

There's an analogy to be found with the sinking of the Titanic:

No one believed the Titanic could sink, so they for a long time refused to get into lifeboats until it was too late. Boats left half empty.

We still have time to get in the lifeboats. But not much.
